He conveys this viewpoint to his team. “It’s true, I’m continuously encouraging my people to keep up to date with technology developments, and I try to provide them with opportunities that can bring positive change to our organization.” As an example, he explains the importance of introducing a systematic and structured approach to each assignment, such as Quality Management System processes and ISO certification.
So, what attracted him to Linxon as the company began its journey in 2018? “I was excited about the combination of an equipment manufacturer and pure EPC in SNC-Lavalin and ABB. And I looked forward to working with two multinationals at the top of their game.”
He also values the lean culture at Linxon, which means we can be quicker to adapt to market shifts than larger organizations. And he adds: “I’m really happy to see Linxon’s penetration across various markets and our technology development in the areas of offshore and digital engineering.”

Vinodkumar D joined Linxon on its very first day and has held the role of Engineering Group Manager in our Indian Operation Center for the past three years. He believes in striving to live up to your potential and helping others achieve theirs – as well as improving organizational processes wherever possible. Constantly seeking innovation, he’s happy to work for a company that is breaking into new technological areas.
Complex substation projects have followed Vinodkumar throughout his career – in fact, he has actively sought them out, citing the need to pursue new challenges as his reason. “Challenging your potential is the most important thing to me,” the Electrical Engineering graduate explains. “I want to be in a place where I can learn and achieve individual growth, while contributing to the success of the organization.” It was around 15 years ago when Vinodkumar, who’s now based in Chennai, jumped into substation design projects, taking on engineering and execution responsibilities, exploring complex design solutions, and grasping the opportunity to learn on and execute some major projects. “I love to work for a company that is innovative and always looking for new opportunities to expand” is how he sums up his professional philosophy.

Taking inspiration from Bruce Lee
While professional success is a motivating factor for Vinodkumar, helping others to achieve their goal is his real passion. He encourages his team to be open, accept and overcome their setbacks. “Everyone makes mistakes,” he explains. “Showing integrity means admitting to these, not being afraid to accept them and putting in all your efforts to avoid them in the future. This creates room for learning, healthy collaboration and building responsibility.”
Where does his own sense of commitment and resilience come from? He takes inspiration from Bruce Lee and says that the iconic martial artist and actor spurred him to take up martial arts himself – something that supports both his physical and mental health. “‘Defeat is a state of mind; no one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality’ is a quote from Bruce Lee and this inspires me to never give up!” Vinodkumar concludes.
