Luis’ career in the energy industry began with a solar power plant construction project; he has since worked in the Transmission & Distribution sector, serving in management positions for over 12 years. Having joined Linxon’s North American setup in 2018, he is currently leading two US-based GIS projects with the two major utilities PG&E and AEP. A passionate project manager, he believes this is a key role particularly in a lean organization like Linxon. “It’s important to establish short-term goals, define priorities and keep communication channels wide open,” he underlines, adding that project managers have to be “creative, resourceful and act as leaders.”
With over a decade of management experience, Luis leads by example and believes in putting people first. “My focus is on identifying my team members’ individual strengths and growth potential, which is key to finding the best value-adders in each situation. I really enjoy creating and developing teams, bringing people together and leading them towards a common goal,” he says.
As such, teamwork is a strong value for Luis. “I like to be part of something bigger than myself,” he explains. “My goal is to always find the best way to contribute to the organization, as we’ll always be stronger together than walking alone.” This also extends to one of his current hobbies: climbing. This is an activity, Luis says, that makes you really focus on what you’re doing and always put safety first. “It helps to build a strong culture of safety among your colleagues; after all, your life is in their hands and vice versa.”
