Linxon is supplying a 400 kV air insulated (AIS) substation to Ringhals nuclear Power plant in the South-West of Sweden.

The project consists of a replacement of the existing substation at Ringhals power plant outside of Varberg, and Linxon is supplying two 400 kV switchgears. The new substation will be connecting reactor 3 and 4 to the transmission grid.

This project has a challenging scheme and the modernizing of the substation will be executed while power generation is maintained, keeping outages to a bare minimum.

The Linxon turnkey supply includes project management, engineering, procurement, equipment supply, civil design, civil works, mechanical & electrical installation and commissioning. The products are high technology solutions mainly from ABB, such as the 400 kV AIS Switchgear (totally 11 bays) with disconnector circuit breakers (DCB’s), auxiliary power supply plus the protection and control system which is according to IEC 61850. The civil works including the substation buildings and two transmission towers, will be delivered by contractors.

The construction will start during the early spring of 2020 and the first station is expected to be ready for commissioning in 2022 followed by the second one in 2023.
