Linxon wins substation order for thermal transmission project in Uttar Pradesh, India

December 6, 2019

Linxon has won an order of around $10 million from Obra Badaun Transmission Ltd in India as an upgrade for a turnkey Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) at Ujhani and Bilsi substation sites in the state of Uttar Pradesh, northern India.

The Linxon’s scope consists of design, engineering, manufacturing, testing and equipment delivery of a 400/220kV/132kV GIS substation, and in addition 30 bays of GIS 132 kV extensions to both sites. The scope also covers commissioning including GIS and associated civil works, all on a turnkey basis. The commissioning of the new substation is scheduled for the later part of 2020.

India is strengthening the transmission network in the densely populated state of Uttar Pradesh in order to provide reliable power to more than 200 million people. The overarching project “Obra-C Badaun Transmission Limited” has approximately 625 kilometers of transmission lines at voltage levels of 765 kV and 400 kV in the Uttar Pradesh region. This project is primarily being constructed to transfer power from the Obra-C thermal power project.

“Linxon has been chosen as a reliable partner by the customer for executing the project on a very tight completion schedule”, said Frederic Trefois, CEO of Linxon. “It demonstrates that our clients does not only have confidence in the newly created Joint Venture thanks to the experience and knowledge accumulated within the Linxon Asia Pacific team, but also benefits from our comprehensive turnkey offering particularly to match complex schedules”.
