Inauguration of new substation in the Swedish capital

September 6, 2022

The new regional network substation in Järfälla, Stockholm, will strengthen the future grid capacity for rapidly expanding urban development in Stockholm.

On September 1, the substation was inaugurated in the presence of the two CEOs from the Clients Vattenfall Eldistribution and E.ON Energidistribution, and the Chair of the Municipality Emma Feldman.

The substation project began in 2020 and Linxon’s commitment included project management, design, construction and, finally, installation of equipment and commissioning of the facility. The electrical equipment consists primarily of 130 kV gas-insulated switchgear from Hitachi Energy, relay and control systems as well as associated support systems and two transformers.

Furthermore, two substation buildings have been constructed whose outer appearance meets high design standards. It was important that these fit into the modern surroundings of the Barkarby district, again underlining Linxon’s commitment to delivering high-quality projects that make a positive contribution to urban life in Sweden’s largest city.

“We are proud to deliver this project, which has been characterized by an excellent level of cooperation with our customer Vattenfall Eldistribution, and also with EON Energidistribution who is the owner of the station connected to the local distribution grid. We have created a positive and safe working environment during the whole execution period,” says Ingela Hålling, CEO of Linxon Nordics.

“We are also very pleased to be involved in upgrading Stockholm’s electricity grid and strengthening capacity for the future, which will benefit residents in the Barkarbystaden urban development initiative,” she adds.

Linxon is building the infrastructure to power the world with carbon-free energy. We strive to minimize the carbon impact of our business activities, by continually looking for supply options and methods of working which will significantly reduce carbon emissions – in design, procurement, and construction.
